Monica’s Chrome Web Store listing still introduces it with Cmd+M, but the feature list underneath now opens with an agent: Monica Agent, and a Browser Operator that, in Monica’s words, “controls your browser to handle repetitive tasks across multiple websites.” Chat, writing, translation and images come after, and since those aren’t what dassi is for, I’ll mostly leave the headline features alone.
Credits, mostly
Monica Pro is $9.90 a month ($99 a year), and for that you get thousands of chat queries a month on a mix of small and frontier models, image and video generation, and 1,500 Advanced Credits. (Max at $24.90 and Ultra at $99.90 are sold as unlimited, though the fine print caps them at 1,600 advanced and 12,000 basic queries a month before slowing you to 100 a day.)
The agent runs on those credits. Monica’s own rules put an average Browser Operator task at 150 credits, from the same pool Deep Research and image generation draw on, so Pro covers about ten operator runs a month and Max about thirty. A $10 top-up of 4,000 credits buys roughly 26 more, a price that puts one run near a Deep Research report (138 credits) and under a slide deck (187). Ten isn’t many if you were hoping to hand it your Monday reporting, and I’m not sure whether a typical office chore lands near that average or well above it.
Logging in
Monica doesn’t document, anywhere I looked, what Browser Operator does when a site asks you to sign in. dassi works on the sessions already open in your Chrome, Edge or Brave. When one has lapsed it signs in with whatever the browser’s password manager fills in, so nobody pastes a password into a chat or into dassi’s settings. 2FA codes wait for you, like any step you’ve flagged.
When to choose Monica
Monica is the better buy if most of your AI day is writing, translating and making images. The agent comes along as a bonus, and ten runs a month may be all you ever want from it.
When to choose dassi
When the agent part is the whole reason you’re shopping. dassi is only that part: you show it a job once or explain it, and it reruns the saved workflow when you ask, or on a schedule while your browser is open. On your own API key there’s no per-task credit meter at all, just $10 a month and your provider’s bill, and the instructions and page content go straight to that provider.
Monica says the rules and pricing for Max and Ultra may change with what OpenAI and Anthropic charge it, so I’d recheck the credit numbers before renewing any plan.
