Nobody opens a bakery to reconcile Stripe
Stripe for last week’s takings, the bank for what cleared, the booking app because someone wants to move Thursday, Google Business Profile because a review came in overnight, and then the spreadsheet that holds it together, since none of those tools talk to each other. For a lot of owner-operators that’s Monday morning. Most of the AI pitched at small businesses writes things. The lost hours are mostly clicking, in six different logins.
dassi is an AI assistant for the clicking. It works in the browser you already use, on the accounts you’re already signed into, and you teach it a job the way you’d explain it to a new part-timer (in plain English, or by doing it once while it watches). It saves the job as a workflow and runs it when you ask or on a schedule. You choose which steps need your yes first, and it stops there to show you what it’s about to do.
Three rows, one of them wrong
The copying between apps is, I suspect, the biggest time sink an owner has and the least visible. A client booked in Acuity also has to exist in the invoicing tool and on the mailing list, and the intake form wants one more question.
We recorded a small test of exactly this, giving dassi three made-up customers to enter in a public practice form, with the rule that it submit each one and read back the confirmation. The first two went through in a few minutes. The third, a fictional Lena Fischer, had an email address with nothing after “example” and a six-digit phone number. The form rejected both fields. dassi stopped, left the row unsubmitted, and reported which fields failed and why, without making up a fix.
That last part is what I’d want from anything putting my customers into an invoicing tool. A quietly “corrected” phone number is worse than a blank one. The web form data entry page has the run.
What else owners hand over
The Monday numbers, mostly: Stripe revenue and refunds, bank transactions pulled into Sheets without a CSV export, all typed into your sheet as part of a small weekly admin routine. Then the inbox, where dassi can sort Gmail every morning so customers sit at the top and the “yes, we’re open Saturday” replies are already drafted. If people find you on Google Maps, it will draft replies to new reviews and change your holiday hours on the profile and the website in one pass. It won’t write reviews or offer anyone a discount for one, which Google forbids.
A first week, and the catches
Pick one job, probably the one you resent most. Do it once while dassi watches and narrate as you go (“gross in this column, refunds in the next, skip anything marked test”), then have it redo last week alone and check the result yourself. Save the workflow and schedule it, Monday at 8am for the numbers. I’d let it run clean twice before teaching it anything else. Three times if the sheet goes to your accountant.
It runs in your browser, not on a server, so a closed laptop at 8am means the run waits for you. When a site has logged you out, dassi signs in with whatever Chrome’s password manager fills in; the password stays there, and the two-factor code still comes to your phone. The page content a job needs goes to the AI provider you picked, through dassi’s relay on a plan with credits. Data that shouldn’t reach a model provider calls for a local model, or for leaving that job off the list.
What it costs
Free credits to try dassi, good for 7 days. No card required. If you already have an API key, the Developer plan is $10 a month and you pay the provider for what you use. Plans with monthly credits run $25 to $300 a month. A 200-row data entry batch eats more than a morning inbox pass, so the right plan depends on your mix, and a week of real runs is the only way I know to find out.
